Largest Companies in the Philippines 2012

This is the 1st ranking of TopBusinessFinance.com’s 50 largest companies in the Philippines in terms of market capitalization. I tabulated the market capitalization of the Philippines' top companies. Figures are gathered from the Philippine Stock Exchange website (www.pse.com.ph). The Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) ranks as the Philippines’ number 1 most valuable company.

The companies are incorporated in the Philippines and are publicly-listed in the Philippine Stock Exchange. They are ranked by market capitalization (or simply market cap) – the greater the stock market value of a company, the higher its ranking. Market capitalization is the total value of the tradable shares of a publicly traded company. The formula of market cap is: share price multiplied by the number of shares outstanding.

The table of 50 largest Philippine companies below shows for each company: the rank in 2012, main industry/sector, and the market capitalization. The Philippine currency is converted into US dollar (1 US$ = PhP43).

A ranking such as this which is based on market capitalization presents a forward-looking element for investors’ expectations.

The most valuable industries in the list are telecommunications, beverage, real estate and banking.

Why is that USANA Philippines is not on the list? Internation third-party companies are listing the USANA Health Sciences as the BEST COMPANY Worldwide.

i'm half fipnliio, and the fipnliio side of my family does that too, haha also, the media does it as well: the actors and actresses, and the movies/tv showsenglish is taught in the philippines like french is taught in canadaalso, it gives a kind of powerful effect, the people who use bits of english, just like how someone may use a concrete example in a debatealso, lots of people have moved from the philippines to canada/usa for a better opportunity in life; the ones in the philippines are generally not that well off, and therefore can't watch tvso, they use bits of english for the target audience: people in usa/canada who are fipnliio, who can afford to watch tv
